Hand bookbinding is a traditional craft, practiced by a few individuals to protect the printed word. Recasing, rebacking or simple repairs such as missing endpapers, loose hinges, guarding signatures, bumped corners, worn and scratched areas needing retouching and repair, covers missing or in need of a new cloth binding. These are just some of the services offered. No project is too small. I also construct custom crafted boxes - slipcases, drop-spine, clamshell, chemise or portfolio. Boxes are designed to give a snug fit to a treasured book, loose items or valuable documents using the finest archival materials, handmarbled papers and appropriate cloth to compliment each item. Refer to the galleries for current examples.
